Let’s Unite to End Hunger Once and For All
World Food Day is a day of action against hunger. On 16 October, people around the world will come together to declare their commitment to eradicate hunger in our lifetime.
World Food Day celebrates the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The Day will be observed in almost every country with a wide range of activities from hunger walks to World Food Day dinners and other events.
In a world of plenty, 805 million people (that’s one in nine worldwide) live with chronic hunger and the costs of hunger and malnutrition fall heavily on the most vulnerable. What’s more, 60% of the hungry in the world are women and 4 in 10 children living in poor countries are malnourished.
Liberation fully supports the World Food Day pledge to help ensure every human is given a fundamental right to be free from hunger and the right to adequate food. We know the world produces enough food to feed every person on the planet and we must all unite together to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger once and for all.
