The team at Liberation are incredibly sad to hear about the devastation caused by cyclone Idai in Southern Africa. The storm left over 15,000 people stranded and 300 dead in Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.
Liberation has sourced peanuts from Mchinji Area Small Farmers Association (MASFA), cooperative in Malawi, for many years. MASFA has over 2,000 members and there’s a possibility that some farmers have been affected. However, very little information is currently available.
The Association of Producers of Ikuru is one of our cashew nut partners in Mozambique. The group is in the Nampula District which wasn’t hit by the storm. Luckily, the cyclone bypassed the region so we’re thankful everyone there is safe.
Several customers have asked us about the producers in the region. When we have more information, we will share it with interested customers. Of course, we are very grateful for everyone’s concern. When farming communities face disasters like this, Liberation is dedicated to offering help.
